Earn a Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Python Applications and gain the skills needed to tackle real-world programming projects. This course provides both practical knowledge and hands-on experience with Python, one of the top in-demand programming languages in the industry.
You’ll be able to choose between two specialization tracks:
The Cybersecurity and Networking specialization will provide the skills necessary to support offensive and defensive cybersecurity operations and automate the management of network devices using the Python programming language.
Required courses for both specializations:

- CIS156—Python Programming: Level I
- CIS256—Python Programming: Level II

The Data Analytics specialization will provide the skills necessary to analyze datasets, create data visualizations, and apply supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques to the datasets using the Python programming language.

Course Descriptions
CIS105—Survey of Computer Information Systems
Overview of computer technology, concepts, terminology, and the role of computers in business and society.
Prerequisites: None.
CNT140AB—Introduction to Networks
Focus on the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the Internet and other computer networks. Principles and structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations are introduced. Students will build simple LANs, perform basic configurations for routers and switches, and implement IP addressing schemes. Preparation for Cisco certification examination.
Prerequisites: None.
CIS150AB—Object-Oriented Programming
Fundamentals Structured and Object-Oriented design and logic tools. Use of computer problems to demonstrate and teach concepts using an appropriate programming language.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CIS105 or permission of instructor.
CIS119DO—Introduction to Oracle: SQL
Use of Oracle tools and methodologies to fulfill real-world business information requirements. Hands-on exercises for designing, creating, and maintaining database structures to store, retrieve, update, and display data in a relational database using the SQL programming language. Creating and maintaining database objects. Advanced retrieval techniques. A grade of C or better required in all prerequisites.
Prerequisites or Corequisites: CIS105 or permission of instructor.
CIS276DA—MySQL Database
A broad overview of the MySQL database. Includes Structured Query Language (SQL) instruction for data definition, data manipulation, and data retrieval. Develops knowledge and skills required to install MySQL, model and create new databases, manage users, authentication, and stored procedures, and develop backup/restore strategies.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CIS105, or CIS117DM, or permission of instructor.
CIS276DB—SQL Server Database
A broad overview of the Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server database. Includes SQL instruction for data definition, data manipulation, and data retrieval. Develops knowledge and skills required to install SQL Server, model and create new databases, manage users, authentication, and stored procedures, and develop backup/restore strategies.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CIS105, or CIS117DM, or permission of instructor.
CIS156—Python Programming: Level I
Introduction to Python programming. Includes general concepts, program design, development, data types, operators, expressions, flow control, functions, classes, input and output operations, debugging, structured programming, and object-oriented programming.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CIS105 or permission of Instructor.
CIS256—Python Programming: Level II
Advanced Python object-oriented programming concepts and applications. Emphasis on code documenting, versioning, unit testing strategies, and security practices for Python project/package development. Includes Python applications for data analysis, networking, database manipulation, and web application development.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CIS156 or permission of Instructor.
CIS256CN—Python for Cybersecurity and Networking
Focus on practical applications of Python frameworks and libraries to support offensive and defensive cybersecurity operations and the management of network devices.
CIS256DA—Python for Data Analysis
Introduction to data analysis concepts using Python's rich set of tools, libraries, and packages. Includes basic data analysis, creation of meaningful data visualizations, and advanced topics such as supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CIS156 or permission of Instructor.
